Chair of the Board of Trustees: Michael Heath

Michael lives in the London Borough of Bexley with his wife Vera. He works part time as the Personnel Manager for Thames21, a London based environmental charity, which engages local people to volunteer and put rivers at the heart of community life. For five years before this he was their project officer for his local river. Brought up in Northampton, he moved to London in 1978 and served as a Metropolitan Police Officer for thirty years.

An enlightening adult diagnosis of Marfan syndrome was followed with many years of monitoring and as anticipated resulted in related heart surgery in 2016. Michael says ‘As Chair of the Marfan Trust Board of Trustees, I am proud to contribute to the Trust by working with the team to achieve continued success in securing funding for research, raising awareness and providing support.’

He lists his hobbies as cooking, painting, photography and the occasional ‘Guinness’.
