Restoring sight brings the world back into focus and this is just what has happened for Daniel. After a lifelong struggle to see and navigate his everyday routine, Daniel has clarity of vision and a new lease of life. Read his surgical story:

Marfan is family affair and I and my son have the syndrome

My son, Daniel, has always had eye issues - ocular hypertension and short-sightedness. At school he was under the blind team who used to come in every term and make sure that he was able to access everything he needed to have a good education.

In 2019 it was decided by the Eye Team at Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham that he needed to have his lenses replaced. Unfortunately, lockdown then happened and his surgery was put on hold. In the meantime, Daniel’s sight deteriorated more and more and then eventually in 2023 they referred him to Birmingham Midlands eye centre where he was seen by Dr Imran Masood who was amazing.

Daniel had his right eye operation in October 2023 and his left eye in August 2024. His right eye operation is on Dr Masood’s YouTube channel and here is the link. (Please be warned this quite graphic).

Before his operations Daniel was very limited as to what he could do daily as he had very little sight and now his life has completely changed.

He is still on eye drops at the moment and he gaining back more and more sight which we are thankful for.
