August is Immunisation Awareness Month. Vaccinations are important for people of all ages to prevent serious illness.
Have a look at the NHS website for the schedule we follow in the UK:

- - Many vaccines are given pre-school, if your child has missed any of these please speak to the GP to plan to get these up to date
- - If your child with Marfan syndrome has missed lots of school recently due to ill health they may have missed appointments with the School Nurse for their flu vaccine, HPV vaccine or teenage booster, again, you can contact your GP to make sure they are up to date with all vaccines
- - Do you have a young person going off to university? This is another important time to check that all their vaccines are up to date
- - For older people (over 65 years) there are the shingles and pneumococcal vaccine as well as the annual flu vaccine
- - For older people (over 75 years), those living in a care home or those with weakened immune systems a COVID 19 vaccine is still recommended. Your GP practice should contact you if you fall into one of these categories.
